The head of an agency is tasked with ensuring that there are no 'dead ends' at the end of the operation. However, all is not in his favour this evening...
This was an interesting shoot to say the least. With 3 hours to shoot (minus 1 hour from the total of four, as we had to set up), getting all the coverage we needed, as well as making sure everyone knew what they're lines were.
To keep it simple, we shot one angle of the dialogue from 2 focal lengths (50mm and 35mm), and only then switched the lighting setups. This meant we could power through the scene, get all the angles, and takes. After that we did the wide shots, and Colin's first shot, as well as the final scene on the stairs.
We used the Rode VideoMic to record all audio whenever we weren't using a tripod (due to cable length), as well as to record some foley of the bar at normal opening hours. This was great, as we had little time left, and had to almost run between setups, with little time to move lights although the words "fix it in post" were never uttered.
All in all, it was a great experience, working in such a short time-frame, with an actual plan beforehand. Regardless if I win or not, I can't wait to enter next year!
